I could listen to that 'wa wa wa' sound looping (starts at 0:23) for days. I love them for releasing the instrumentals of the whole album.

I haven't seen many Atmosphere videos, so I can't say how it ranks, but the slow motion makes me think of silly things. You'll see about that tomorrow.

Cool Calm Pete - Wishes and Luck

Laid-back raps from 2005. Has an MF DOOM feel with the some of the references, but much easier on the ears. Nice piano loop going throughout the whole track.

Amazing things about this song:

• The 'Clap' 
• The 'Clap Clap' 
• The pause after the line 'I can't stand to be in a relationship when it stops' 
• The sax solo from 2:51 to 3:05
• The vocoder from 3:07 to 3:40
• The outro includes the word 'attenuate' 
• The funkiness throughout the whole song!

I was gonna say listen to 'Never' which starts at about 1:25, but you should be able to listen to a little Nina Simone for a minute beforehand... Plus maybe you'll just listen to the whole album this way.

King Los - Poundcake (Freestyle)

Over the beat from Drake's Pound Cake, this is some fast-moving flow that just keeps on going. It even parallels some of the flow from Drake's version with 'fake, fake, fake' instead of 'cake, cake, cake'.

I could listen to that beat all day.

A quick home Dronie

Gee Watts - Watt's Up (Feat. MiMi Nichole)

Nice slow beat with big slow bass drop. Gee Watts probably isn't on most people's radar, but his rhymes are solid and he sounds like he's not rushing to get to the top. They say his best known work is on 'Watts R.I.O.T. with Kendrick Lamar', but I think 199X stands far above that. Keep listening to his soundcloud playlist. Or don't. I'ma be posting half of it here in the next few weeks anyway :P

In case you've been living in a Pharrell-less world, you should enjoy this. I dig the first half more than the second, but you know I can't get enough bass.

YG - My Nigga (Explicit) ft. Jeezy, Rich Homie Quan

You can guess by the title, this is an entire song about friends! This loyalty-oriented track reminds me of some Lost Boyz beats and is extremely catchy. Lyrics might be considered vulgar :)

De La Soul - Dilla Plugged In

That classic De La sound with a Dilla beat. Sounds like back in the day. A little James Brown twist at the end.

King Los - Don't Get In My Way ft. Royce Da 59 & Shanica Knowles

Los' flow at times sounds like Wale on this track, but he changes his flow up a number of times throughout his new mixtape. He has a distinctly more battle/freestyle flow than most these days. He pairs well with Royce who could equally blast 32 bars without taking a breath. Royce's flow is unmistakable and Shanica's hook is mesmerizing.

Asher Roth - Tangerine Girl

More groove and less rap, this beat is fun and gets me moving. The video floats somewhere between hilarious, sad, and porn, so we'll just stick with the song here. Feel free to watch the YouTube version to potentially provide some context.

Nocando - Break Even

Muted horns are awesome! Combined with that clean low piano and a good bass drop. I live by the beat.

King Los - Woke Up Like This

Just un-signed with Bad Boy, yet to release a full album, and his 11th mixtape coming out shortly. Also, find him freestyle on Sway in the morning like a boss. Nothing like trash-talking the host.

Alter)ring - Infinitely Gentle Blows (Scott Hardkiss Aural Hallucination Mix) from "Groove"

The wind-down song that wraps up the movie Groove. You'll be as exhausted as the people in the movie by the 9th minute of this, but it's fun to hear the sounds change over the course of the track.

Doley Bernays & Euro League - ReeLife Sound Part 2

Reminds me of one of the beats off the Groove Soundtrack. Much harder and less spacey, but hey, this ain't your aughts techno. Next post.

Chance The Rapper - Save Yourself First

I listened to it once and thought it needed more... After a few more listens I stopped wanting it to drop into some big crazy sound and really started enjoying it for its quiet smoothness. That ultra-light double-time hat sound is so cool.

B.o.B. - Get It

I dig the soul samples. Chorus and some sick organ. The sample at the beginning is slowed so hard it warbles a little rough, but it doesn't dectract from the song overall. It wouldn't surprise me if this track gets popular, but I'll have to check with my girlfriend as to its radio-worthiness.

Cracks me up, I'm finding music so soon after they get posted to the internet that there isn't even a Rap Genius page for 'em.... I actually have to listen to the lyrics to find out what he says. Heck if I know. I'll check with my girlfriend for that too.

Euro League - Gold Chains In A Dungeon

I think it's Doley's rhymes that sound like Big L. Hardcore NY rap. 2014 sounding like some freestyle Stretch & Bobbito '95ish. Euro League is similarly hardcore sounding but a little less wild. Good smooth beat.

Ray Bop - God of Flows II

Can't even find this stuff on youtube... but it's all over rdio and spotify. Great beat and great flow. Guess he named this track right.

Rick Ross Feat. Big Sean, Kanye West - Sanctified

All I want's 100 million dollars and a bad b****. Now it's Kanye and Rick's turn to take a shot at a verse after that line.

Kanye's lines constantly crack me up. 'Wipe my forehead with a hankerchief' (you gotta hear him say it to really understand), and his last line is delivered perfectly. Kanye's flow on this track is fantastically acrobatic and contrasts well with the no-nonsense (or much of anything else) flow of Rick Ross.

Big Sean - Sanctified

Apparently this verse didn't make the final cut on the Rick Ross track, so he went and dropped it on his own. How about that. Next up, The other verses.

Lupe Fiasco & Ab -Soul - Thorns & Horns

Lupe is crazy with wordplay as always, and Ab-Soul can keep up. The beat sounds like a sample from G-Eazy's 'Almost Famous' or more likely, they both sample something similar.

Kid Ink - Work's Never Over Feat. Raekwon

To all the killers and hundred dollar billers...
This is a great example of how you turn an oldschool hardcore rap beat into 2014 trap music. Drop heavier 808's and a double-time hat/clap and you're almost there. I've always wanted that beat to come down harder, and this begs to be cranked.

John Newman - Love Me Again

It's like Moby meets the swingin' 60's? I don't even know, but it is definitely awesome. Also, watch the end of the video for a surprise - Rabbit in Your Headlights-style.

Pusha T - Hold On

If you couldn't tell Kanye produced this album, this track is dripping in his sound. Also it's very full of swear words. Probably unrelated.

Drake - Worst Behavior

I could watch the old dude say Drake's lines all day. Cracks me up.

People are crazy. Thank god GoPro and lack of death allowed some crazies to get us this footage of climbing to the top of the CRANE AT THE TOP of the 2nd highest skyscraper in the world...

I like heights but this made my feet and palms sweat like I thought I was gonna fall. Exhilarating!

On the scene since 2011, his beats are slow and bass-heavy. Fantastic. His flow reminds me of Twista but at 60% the speed.

Testing out transitions over time with keyframes

Playing around with some of my GoPro timelapse content from November. Images were 3200x2400 initially, but starting with a sequence that was only 720p, I was able to give myself plenty of space to pan and zoom over the duration of the timelapse.

Washed Out - Feel it all around

Portlandia! This reminds me of 'Dry the Rain' by the Beta Band in its slow driving beat, but far more ambient.
